The Invisalign Process
1
Your initial appointment
At your first appointment, your dentist at Morden Dentist will study your mouth and talk to you about your cosmetic dentistry wishes. Your dentist will tell you if Invisalign is right for you. If you are a candidate for Invisalign, you will discuss the treatment protocol, estimated treatment length and costs.
2
Taking impressions of your teeth
The next step is the digital imaging process. Digital scan, photographs, and x-rays create an accurate model of your teeth. These are sent to the Invisalign laboratory for your custom aligner trays to be created. You will also see what your final smile will look like in 3-D imaging.
3
Fitting the first aligner
When your Invisalign trays are ready, you return to the practice. Your dentist may fit small attachments on your teeth to help the trays stay in place. They are clear, painless to install, and temporary. Your dentist will check that your aligners fit and explain clearly how to look after them and what to expect.
4
Follow-up appointments
You will receive an aligner for every planned tooth movement made during treatment and will need to change the aligners every 7-14 days depending on your plan. Aligners must be removed for eating, brushing/flossing and contact sport but otherwise must be worn at all times. If worn as prescribed, normally 22 hours per day, you will get the results you are looking for. A few weeks after your first tray is fitted, your dentist who will check your tooth movements. You will be given new sets of aligners to change as the treatment progresses.
5
Straighter teeth
After a period of time, your teeth will have straightened to the desired position. The final results always depend on the severity of misalignment, but if worn as prescribed, you are guaranteed to have straighter teeth.
Retainers: after completing treatment you will be given retainers to keep your smile straight. Then off you go to enjoy your incredible new smile.

Invisalign FAQs
Invisalign treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. No brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces.
At Morden Dentist we’ll create a unique, digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth. Your Invisalign clear aligners are then designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan. We’ll be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners fit correctly.
Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible — patients often tell us their friends and family don’t even notice they’re wearing them. You can remove them to eat and drink, to brush and floss, or for special occasions. There are no metal brackets or wires that could irritate your mouth or break.
The length of treatment depends on multiple factors, such as how complex your case is and how often you wear your aligners. At Morden Dentist we’ll determine exactly how long your treatment could take based on your specific needs. On average, Invisalign treatment time is 12 to 18 months. Though you can start seeing results in a matter of weeks.
Every smile is unique, which is why your Invisalign treatment starts with a consultation. During your consultation we’ll help you determine what Invisalign could do for your smile.
